Dr Phan studied at the University of Birmingham Medical School (UK) and graduated with double First Class degrees with Honours. He was awarded a First-class Honours BMedSc degree in 2000 and a Medical - MBChB degree with Honours in 2002. He subsequently was awarded the prestigious British Heart Foundation (BHF) Scholarship and a BHF Project Grant to conduct three years of cardiovascular research at the University of Birmingham (UK) and was award a PhD in 2010.
Dr Phan is the clinical lead of Cardiac Electrophysiology at Royal Stoke University Hospital (UK) - tertiary centre. He is a consultant cardiologist with expertise in electrophysiology and cardiac device implantation. He performs catheter ablations for atrial fibrillation (AF) and ventricular tachycardia (VT) as well as supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) and atrial flutters. He leads the AF and VT ablation programme. He is highly experienced in general cardiology with expertise also in cardiac pacing and defibrillators. He has performed over a 1000 Ablations and Device implantations procedures.
He has UK BHRS accreditation in both electrophysiology and cardiac devices. He has an extensive publishing record with over 40 scientific papers in high-impact factor journals as well as 46 abstracts. He has performed a large number of scientific presentations at a national and international level (BCS, BHRS, ESC, ACC and AHA).
He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London (FRCP), a Fellow of in American College of Cardiology (FACC) and a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC)
