About

Mr Robin Abel is a Consultant Paediatric Surgeon in London. He offers a comprehensive paediatric and neonatal surgical practice, including day surgery for circumcision, hernia repair and mal-descended testes.

After graduating from University College London Medical School in 1988, he completed further training in Paediatrics and Neonatology at Great Ormond Street, Birmingham Children's, John Radcliffe Queen Charlotte's & Chelsea and Westminster Hospitals. Following this, he undertook a Clinical Research Fellowship in Great Ormond Street and Hammersmith Hospital, one of the world's largest paediatric and academic centres. He was awarded a PhD for his thesis 'The Ontogeny of Peptide Innervation of the Pylorus with special reference to the development of Infantile Hypertrophic Pyloric Stenosis". He won the British Association of Paediatric Surgeons prize for his work and was made a Hunterian Professor

Mr Abel has practised as a Consultant Paediatric Surgeon since 1997 and was made a Substantive Consultant in 2001. His guiding philosophy in treating children has been to minimise the impact of surgical intervention, so that the child can grow and develop as healthily and normally as possible.
