Dr. Richard Bond is a highly experienced consultant cardiologist and electrophysiologist, specialising in the investigation and treatment of arrhythmias, particularly atrial fibrillation and supraventricular tachycardia (SVT). He is skilled in catheter ablation, pacemaker implantation, defibrillator placement, and biventricular pacemaker implantation. Dr. Bond also has a keen interest in inherited cardiac conditions.
Dr. Bond graduated with first-class honors and distinction from the St Bartholomew's and Royal London School of Medicine in 2004. He then completed core medical training in the South West before commencing his cardiology training in 2008. In 2011, he was awarded funding from the British Heart Foundation for a PhD at the University of Bristol, where he conducted research on the mechanisms of atrial fibrillation.
Following his PhD, Dr. Bond completed subspecialty training in Cardiac Electrophysiology at the Bristol Heart Institute and Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. In 2017, he was appointed as a Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, before moving to Gloucestershire Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in 2018. He also holds an honorary consultant position at the Bristol Heart Institute.
Dr. Bond is proficient in providing a full range of treatments for heart rhythm disorders, including catheter ablation, pacemaker and defibrillator implantation, as well as cardiac resynchronisation therapy (biventricular pacemakers). His expertise extends across all aspects of general cardiology, ensuring comprehensive care for patients with cardiovascular concerns.
