About Dr Premini Mahendra
Dr Mahendra studied medicine at the University of Glasgow and qualified in 1985. She trained in haematology at the Royal Marsden, Hammersmith and Addenbrookes hospitals, becoming a consultant haemato-oncologist specailising in stem cell transplantion in 1997, and has worked at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham since 1998. Dr Mahendra specialises in blood cancers (leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma), stem cell transplantation and CAR-T therapy and is determind to deliver the very best in care whilst recognising how vital important communication, kindness and timeliness are in achieving that goal. Dr Mahendra is actively involved in teaching and supports doctors many of whom are consultant haematologists in the UK and overseas. She also participates in research relating to blood cancers and stem cell transplantation and has over 90 publications.
