Dr Savage trained in Medicine in Bristol. Dr Savage also trained in Medical Oncology at the Royal Marsden and Imperial Hospitals. Dr Savage was a Consultant at Charing Cross Hospital for ten years, where they were clinical lead for testicular cancer, urology oncology, chemotherapy and acute oncology. Following a career sabbatical with the BCCA in Canada, they returned to the UK to practice. Dr Savage has a strong research interest and has over 150 medical and scientific publications. Alongside this, they have extensive experience in clinical care of patients with urological malignancies.

They have worked closely with a number of biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies on both immunotherapy and cancer gene therapy projects. More recently, Dr Savage has worked on a new approach to chemotherapy sensitivity and resistance of cancer cells and exploring the potential for novel approaches to therapy. Alongside these laboratory-based projects, Dr Savage has also published several papers looking at clinical research predominantly in gynaecology oncology and uro-oncology.
