About
He completed his medical degree in 1995 at the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine, University of London. He began his specialty training in Paediatrics in 1996 where he trained at several London hospitals including the world renowned Great Ormond Street Hospital and The Royal Brompton Hospital. He later trained in Oxford, further developing his expertise in paediatric intensive care, cardiology and neonatal medicine.
In his current practices, Dr Barnes treats children and newborns with a wide range of conditions, including:
• Cow's milk protein allergy
• Feeding problems
• Abdominal pain
• Headache
• Reflux
• Asthma
• Heart palpitations and heart murmur
• Breathlessness
• Collapse
His approach to care is to take into account all medical, psychological and social symptoms relevant to a child's condition in order to develop the most accurate and effective treatment plan. He utilises the expertise of his peers to provide multidisciplinary treatment, wokring closely with a paediatric psychologist, physiotherapist and dietitian.
He is skilled in a wide range of diagnostic imaging modalities, including ECG and echocardiogram, and can request x-ray and MRI imaging when required..
Dr Barnes has published several papers in peer reviewed journals on subjects in the areas of both paediatric cardiology and neonatal medicine.
Dr Barnes is a Member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.
