About Dr Alexander G Murray Martin
Dr. Murray (Alexander) Martin is a Consultant Haematologist with a wealth of experience in the field of haematology. He completed his medical degree at Queen's University Belfast in 1997. Following his undergraduate studies, he began postgraduate medical training in the teaching hospitals of Belfast. In 2003, Dr. Martin relocated to Leicester, where he continued to expand his haematological expertise. He completed his higher specialist training in 2008, which included a clinical fellowship in Bone Marrow Transplantation, the focal point of his clinical practice. Dr. Martin was appointed a substantive Consultant Haematologist in 2009 at the University Hospitals of Leicester, specialising in Leukaemias and Haematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation. As a transplant physician, Dr. Martin is skilled in diverse aspects of haemato-oncology. His expertise includes the management of patients diagnosed with various malignant haematological conditions, such as lymphomas, leukaemias, myelodysplasia, multiple myeloma, and myeloproliferative disorders. His practice also covers general haematology, including aneamias. He is the Clinical Director of the Stem Cell Transplantation Programme. He is the Designated Individual (DI) responsible for supervising activity under the Human Tissue Act relevant to his practice. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, Royal College of Pathologists and an active member of the European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation. He is an active JACIE (Joint Accreditation Committee of ISCT and EBMT) Inspector, advocating and improving quality in haematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Dr Martin is the Principal Investigator for various clinical trials in leukaemias and transplantation in his institution, and is active in national trial steering and data monitoring comittees. He has published medical articles in high impact journals relative to his field of practice. Dr. Murray Martin's extensive training and expertise make him a highly respected figure in his field.
