About Prof Mohaned Egred
Professor Mohaned Egred is a highly respected Consultant Cardiologist at Nuffield Health Newcastle upon Tyne Hospital, renowned for his expertise in interventional cardiology and his contributions to the field of coronary interventions. He is widely recognised worldwide for his expertise in complex percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and is considered a leader in the treatment of coronary artery disease. Professor Egred completed his medical degree at the University of Damascus, Syria in 1989. He later relocated to the UK and completed his MD at the University of Aberdeen. Professor Egred is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology. With a primary focus on coronary interventions, percutaneous coronary intervention, heart valve disease, palpitations, hypertension, and general cardiology, Professor Egred possesses a wealth of knowledge and experience in these areas. He specialises in complex PCI, particularly in the treatment of chronic coronary occlusion. He also has expertise in structural and percutaneous mitral valve interventions and holds the position of clinical lead for cardiovascular research at the Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. In addition to his clinical work, Professor Egred serves as a professor of interventional cardiology and cardiovascular medicine at the University of Sunderland and Newcastle University. His dedication to education extends beyond the classroom as he regularly performs live case operations that are transmitted around the world, providing educational value to doctors globally. His additional role as a faculty member at international meetings and his involvement in training courses for fellow consultants demonstrate his commitment to advancing the skills and knowledge of interventional cardiologists worldwide. With over 100 peer-reviewed papers and numerous oral presentations to his name, Professor Egred is also a prolific researcher with over 100 peer-reviewed papers. He previously held the role of clinical and educational section editor for the Journal of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and continues to review articles for major international journals, showcasing his expertise and commitment to advancing medical knowledge.
