Dr Maresa Carulli qualified with top honours the University of Medicine and Surgery in Modena, Italy in 1992 . She moved to London In 1994 to pursue research in Rheumatology at the Royal Free Hospital in the field of Connective tissue diseases and afterwards completed her postgraduate training In London obtaining CCST in Rheumatology and Medicine .During this time she also obtained a Msc in Rheumatology with distinction from King’s College focusing on the role of inflammatory chemokines in rheumatoid arthritis. This led to further research in the field of Systemic Sclerosis and was awarded MD (Res) by University College London .
Dr Maresa Carulli was appointed as a General Physician and Rheumatology Consultant at Hammersmith Hospital Imperial College NHS trust in 2008. Here she has developed the general rheumatology service running Early Arthritis clinic as well as the specialist service in Scleroderma , in particular the interface with the pulmonary hypertension and interstitial lung disease clinic. She is an active member of the UK Scleroderma study group and has been recently involved in the drawing up the current BSR guideline for the treatment of Raynaud’s and Scleroderma
In addition Dr Carulli has recently developed and is leading the Osteoporosis service at Hammersmith Hospital.
