Her research on atopic eczema earned her an MD, and she has over 80 papers published in peer-reviewed journals. She was appointed Consultant Dermatologist at St George's and Kingston Hospitals after completing her training. At St George's, she has served as Clinical Lead and is currently an Educational Supervisor.

Additionally, Dr Ostlere runs Dermatology Education seminars for general practitioners and delivers lectures to general practitioners, dermatology trainees, and medical students. She belongs to the British Association of Dermatologists,  the European Society for Cutaneous Allergy, the Royal College of Physicians, and the Royal Society of Medicine.
