About

Dr. Christopher H Critoph is a Consultant Cardiologist based in Bournemouth, Dorset, with extensive training in cardiology from major teaching hospitals in both London and Australia. After moving to Dorset in 2015 with his wife and two young children, Dr. Critoph has become a highly regarded figure in the local medical community.

Specialising in diagnosing and treating heart-related conditions, Dr. Critoph is one of the few UK specialists trained to assess patients with a family history of heart disease and those involved in sports cardiology. He is the clinical lead for heart failure at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital and runs rapid access clinics for patients presenting with symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath, and palpitations, often managing to see patients on the same day.

In addition to his diagnostic expertise, Dr. Critoph performs a wide range of procedures, including the implantation of pacemakers, defibrillators (ICDs), and cardiac resynchronisation devices (CRT-P). He has access to a comprehensive suite of cardiac imaging techniques, such as echocardiography, CT, and MRI, as well as other interventional procedures and ablation therapies.

Dr. Critoph also runs a specialist heart assessment clinic for individuals with a family history of heart disease, even if they show no symptoms. This is crucial as many patients experience heart attacks unexpectedly, often due to an undiscovered family history of cardiovascular issues.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Critoph plays an active role in training future cardiologists, ensuring the next generation of heart specialists is well-prepared to deliver high-quality care.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”

— Dr Chris Critoph
