About Dr Amit Patel
Dr Amit Patel is a Consultant Respiratory physician and Clinical Lead for Respiratory Medicine at King’s College Hospital, London. He is the training programme director for respiratory medicine and also the regional speciality advisor to the Royal College of Physicians. He has extensive experience diagnosing and managing the full spectrum of respiratory conditions, including acute and chronic cough, asthma, breathlessness of unknown cause, interstitial lung disease, sarcoidosis, sleep apnoea, COPD, and post-COVID lung disease. Dr Patel graduated from King’s College London and completed his specialist postgraduate training in Respiratory and General Medicine at leading institutions including King’s College, St Thomas’s, and the Royal Brompton Hospitals. During this time, he also undertook a research doctorate (MD) in the Division of Asthma, Allergy and Lung Biology at King’s College London. Dr Patel is actively involved in academic medicine and his research has been widely published in high-impact international journals. He has presented at major global conferences. He is a member of several professional and specialist bodies and remains engaged in both clinical and translational respiratory research. Alongside his clinical and academic roles, Dr Patel is committed to medical education. He lectures on respiratory topics and plays a key role in leading undergraduate teaching at King’s College Hospital. His combined expertise ensures a holistic, evidence-based approach to patient care in all areas of respiratory medicine.
