About Dr Doug Parker
Dr Doug Parker is a highly skilled general ophthalmologist with subspecialist expertise in diseases of the cornea and ocular surface. He holds a PhD from Flinders University of South Australia and has completed prestigious post-graduate fellowships with the Fred Hollows Foundation and at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. Dr Parker’s extensive training in corneal and cataract surgery has equipped him to manage a wide range of eye conditions and perform complex surgeries. As a director of Coastwide Eye Surgery, Dr Parker practices solely on the Central Coast, performing private operations at Central Coast Day Hospital and Tuggerah Lakes Private Hospital. He also serves as a Visiting Medical Officer in the Central Coast Local Health District, offering cataract surgery for patients without health insurance. Dr Parker’s surgical expertise includes cataract surgery, corneal transplantation (DSAEK), pterygium surgery, CXL and surgery for tumours of the ocular surface. His special interests encompass a range of corneal and external eye diseases, including keratoconus, Fuchs’ corneal dystrophy, pterygium, and corneal infections. Dr Parker has published his research on gene therapy and high-risk corneal transplantation in international ophthalmic and scientific journals.
