Professor David Gyorki is a specialty trained general surgeon with particular expertise in cancer surgery, specialising in soft tissue sarcoma, melanoma and advanced skin cancers. He is Director of the sarcoma service and a consultant surgeon at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. He also operates at Epworth Hospital, Richmond and Cabrini Hospital, Brighton.

With specialisty training in complex cancer surgery, Professor Gyorki is one of only a handful of surgeons in Australia with this specific focus, allowing him to fully understand each individual patient's unique situation and tailor treatment plans accordingly. Whether it involves surgery or not, he strives to provide the best possible care for every patient.

He trained in general surgery at St Vincent's Hospital and the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. Following this, he gained his fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and went on to undertake specialist surgical oncology training at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Centre in New York.

Professor Gyorki is committed to academic excellence and providing the most up-to-date, evidence-based treatments for his patients. He is a member of several prestigious medical organisations, including the Australian Melanoma Guidelines Working Party, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology Melanoma guidelines expert panel, and he is a board member of the Australia and New Zealand Sarcoma Association.

He is a highly accomplished researcher and has published widely in esteemed journals including the New England Journal of Medicine, Nature and Lancet Oncology in the field of cancer research, focusing on melanoma, soft tissue sarcoma, and breast cancer. .
