Costa Chacholiades is the Senior Therapist at Abbington House, where he combines his personal journey of recovery with professional expertise to support clients in overcoming addiction and trauma. Costa’s passion for helping others stems from his own experience of overcoming 25 years of active addiction to class A drugs, alcohol, and sedatives. His journey of recovery has been shaped by years of studying and hands-on experience, giving him a profound understanding of the complex nature of addiction and the challenges of healing. At Abbington House, Costa believes that addiction treatment should go beyond addressing symptoms and focus on the underlying issues such as trauma, grief, loss, anxiety, depression, co-dependency, abandonment issues, and other forms of emotional pain. His approach prioritises creating a safe and confidential space where clients feel heard and supported, fostering a strong sense of connection that he believes is crucial to long-term recovery. Costa has witnessed countless clients find healing not only for themselves but also within their relationships, reinforcing his belief in the transformative power of connection. Costa holds a Degree Level Gestalt Therapy accreditation, equipping him with specialised skills in therapeutic intervention. His field of expertise includes addiction therapy and trauma-informed care, and he has been practising for eight years. Costa’s commitment to helping others stems from his own journey of recovery, inspiring him to guide clients through their own healing processes with empathy and dedication. Costa’s work at Abbington House is rooted in the philosophy that addiction does not occur in isolation but is often linked to deeper emotional pain.
