About
Through her extensive career, Dr. Murton has gained vast experience in managing a wide range of mental health disorders, including depression, anxiety, psychosis, bipolar affective disorder, personality disorders, eating disorders, ADHD, Autism and AuDHD (combined Autism and ADHD Assessments). She has a particular interest in treating functional disorders and medically unexplained symptoms, helping patients navigate complex and often misunderstood conditions.
Dr. Murton obtained her medical degree from Cardiff Medical School in 2005 and completed her specialist training in General Adult Psychiatry with an endorsement in Liaison Psychiatry in 2016. Since qualifying as a consultant, she has worked in various roles within community and inpatient psychiatry and currently serves as a Consultant and Clinical Lead in Liaison Psychiatry at the Royal Cornwall Hospital.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Murton is passionate about medical education. She holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical Education and has published and presented research at national and international conferences, particularly focusing on functional symptoms. She actively teaches medical students and postgraduate doctors, aiming to improve awareness and understanding of these complex presentations and to enhance the overall quality of patient care.
Dr. Murton uses a patient centered approach, listening to patient concerns in order to work towards collaborative goals and empowering patients as they move through their recovery journeys.
Dr. Murton also offers bespoke private psychiatric care through her role as the CQC Registered Manager and Clinical Director at Porthia Mental Health Clinic, where she manages all aspects of patient care. Her commitment to clinical excellence and patient education enables her and the team to guide individuals toward meaningful life changes while helping patients better understand their conditions.
