They trained in general orthopaedics as a registrar in the Wessex area before undertaking specialist training in shoulder and elbow surgery as a senior clinical fellow at Southampton General Hospital, and also the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford. Mr Fetherston has presented research projects at regional and national conferences and has a number of abstracts published in journals, including work on the treatment of frozen shoulder.
