Ophthalmology
About
His clinical practice focuses on age-related eyelid and periocular conditions, including ptosis, dermatochalasis, entropion, ectropion, watery eyes, brow ptosis, eyelid lumps, cysts and skin growths. He performs assessment and day-case surgical procedures under local anaesthetic, with treatment plans tailored to the individual’s symptoms, visual function and goals.
Mr Chris Matthews completed specialist ophthalmology training in the North East of England before obtaining his Certificate of Completion of Training in Ophthalmology. He subsequently undertook fellowship training in oculoplastic and eyelid surgery at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle.
His approach to care focuses on clear communication, careful assessment and evidence-based treatment planning. Consultations include discussion of diagnosis, management options and whether surgical or non-surgical treatment is appropriate.
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
