Alongside her clinical work, Dr Khoo is an experienced educator. At King’s College London, she supervises medical students and serves as a regular OSCE examiner. She also supports anaesthetic trainees through tutorials, vivas, and lectures, and for four years she was an invited lecturer for the Masters of Anaesthesia Examination Preparatory Course in Singapore. She has taken part in international teaching initiatives, including a collaboration between KKH paediatric surgery and Port Moresby General Hospital in Papua New Guinea, where she provided anaesthesia for complex paediatric surgical procedures.
Her research interests include improving perioperative processes for patients. She has conducted a meta-analysis on the use of Thromboelastography (TEG) to determine bleeding risk in haematology-oncology patients undergoing surgery, and in Singapore worked on a quality improvement initiative to reduce fasting times for children by developing safe carbohydrate fluid sachets.
