Miss Caris Grimes

About
Miss Grimes completed her medical degree at the St Bart’s and the Royal London School of Medicine in 2004 and became a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2007. She holds a Master’s degree in Surgical Education, as well as a research MD in Global Surgery. She is a Fellow in General Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and a Medical Examiner with the Royal College of Pathologists.
Miss Grimes served as a Consultant General Colorectal Surgeon at the Medway NHS Foundation Trust in Kent for seven years before relocating to London. During her time there, she assumed the role of Associate Medical Director for patient safety and quality. She also held the role of independent Secondary Care doctor on the Governing Body of Surrey Heartlands CCG until its transition to an Integrated Care System in 2022 where she held the position of non-executive director lead for patient safety.
In addition to her clinical practice, Miss Grimes plays a pivotal role as the co-lead for a national trial focused on the use of exclusive enteral nutrition before Crohn's disease surgery, showcasing her commitment to advancing medical knowledge and patient care. She also carries out volunteer work with the Kings Centre for Global Health Partnerships where she leads initiatives related to surgery in the Kings - Zambia partnership.
