Dr Badrinathan Chandrasekaran

Dr Badrinathan Chandrasekaran is a Consultant Cardiologist who works at the Wiltshire Cardiac Center, Great Western Hospital NHS trust and Circle Hospital Ridgeway. He is the clinical lead for the Cardiology department, the head of echocardiography and the Director for Research and Innovation at the trust. He is an international expert in device therapy for heart failure and at the forefront of research in the evolving role of conduction system pacing.  His breath of experience in all aspects of cardiology allow for a holistic patient centred approach in which which shared decision making is key to his practice. He is a happy to see both insured and self pay patients. He graduated from Guy’s and St Thomas’s hospitals and after working in Cambridge and Papworth, completed his specialist training in the Wessex Cardiothoracic Centre in Southampton. He has doctorate in research from Brompton Hospital and Imperial College London in device therapy and cardiac biomarkers in heart failure patients. He also undertook advanced fellowships in Heart Failure and Electrophysiology before starting as a consultant in Swindon 2011.  Dr Chandrasekaran set up a nationally accredited echocardiography department bringing advanced techniques of stress echo and 3D imaging to Swindon. His efforts have been instrumental in establishing the pacing service at Swindon which is nationally renowned, a leader in conduction system pacing, remote monitoring and interventional cardiac resynchronisation therapy.  In addition to general cardiology his areas of expertise are heart failure, complex echocardiography and device therapy. Involvement and commitment to research allows Dr Chandrasekaran to offer up to date care, translating the rapid advancements in the treatment of cardiovascular disease to the bedside; thereby improving the effectiveness and quality of care for patients with heart disease.
