About

Dr. Avi Charlton is a General Practitioner based at Low Carb Practitioners, Melbourne. She is a Medical Doctor with over 20 years of experience and has a fellowship with The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

During her busy and varied career, Dr. Charlton developed a particular interest and subsequent qualification in Low Carb Nutrition with Nutrition Network and Australasian College of Nutrition and Environment Medicine, she has a passion for using a low carbohydrate diet to help her patients achieve optimal health.

She has extensive education with Low Carb Down Under and Nutrition Network and is affiliated with Diet Doctor, as a Diet Doctor Pro practitioner. I have done additional training with The Australasian College of Nutrition and Environmental Medicine (ACNEM). In addition to this, she has set up a Low Carb Clinic to help patients improve health and chronic diseases with nutrition, using a low carbohydrate diet herself, she knows first-hand the benefits that it brings.

Weight management is a significant part of Dr. Charlton's practice, and she has successfully helped a significant number of patients on their weight loss journey, as well as improvement of nutrition and even reverse metabolic syndrome and diabetes. Her broad and in-depth knowledge of the use of low-carb approaches to diet means that she can supervise a low-carb approach safely, with excellent results.

Dr. Charlton is keen on maintaining health across both diet and exercise and has taken up endurance running and strength training in the last few years and progressed to running 2 full marathons in the last 3 years, using the low carbohydrate approach; an inspiring example to her patients.

Dr. Charlton will work with her patient's regular GPs, to help them improve health and nutrition, using a real food approach.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
