Dr Asma Akhtar

Dr. Asma Akhtar is a highly experienced General Practitioner with over 20 years of experience as a doctor, and more than 15 years working in General Practice. After qualifying from Imperial College London, Dr. Akhtar completed her postgraduate training in London and was awarded her Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Practice in 2011. Throughout her career, Dr. Akhtar has worked in a variety of clinical settings, including spending six years as a GP partner in a busy, well-regarded training practice. She offers comprehensive care across the full spectrum of General Practice, with a particular focus on women’s health and mental health. Dr. Akhtar is passionate about supporting women through all stages of life, taking a compassionate, thoughtful approach to managing mental health concerns. Her patient-centred approach is grounded in providing safe, evidence-based care. Dr. Akhtar values listening carefully to her patients, building trust, and working collaboratively to find the best path forward for each individual’s unique needs and lifestyle. Dr. Akhtar is committed to continuous professional development, regularly attending courses, conferences, and educational events to stay current with the latest practices in healthcare. She holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching in Primary Care and additional qualifications in women’s health, child health, and sexual and reproductive health. Dr. Akhtar has mentored medical students, GP trainees, and Nurse Practitioners, and has trained pharmacists to become independent prescribers.
