Dr Ankush Sharma
Psychiatry
About
Dr Sharma completed his medical degree at the University of Pune, India in 2002, after which he completed his foundational specialist training at the Charing Cross Scheme, London, where he immersed himself in a range of subspecialties, ultimately earning his membership with the Royal College of Psychiatrists and qualifying as a psychiatrist.
He later underwent higher training as a specialist in General Adult Psychiatry through the Charing Cross Scheme, London, and was awarded his CCT in 2018. Throughout his training, Dr Sharma developed a keen interest in exploring neurotic and psychotic presentations prevalent within London's multicultural and diverse population.
Dr Sharma has specialist expertise in treating complex mental health presentations such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, as well as in addressing more common neurotic illnesses, including depression, anxiety, phobias, PTSD, and personality disorders.
Beyond his clinical responsibilities, Dr Sharma is deeply passionate about medical education. He actively contributes to the academic development of future healthcare professionals, teaching medical students at Brighton & Sussex Medical School during their inpatient and community placements. He also trains psychiatrists and regularly presents at academic meetings as well as being involved in various quality improvement (QI) and research projects.
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
