Mr Anjum Rashid

Mr Anjum Rashid is a Clinical Lead and Consultant Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgeon at James Cook University Hospital Middlesbrough. He also works at Ramasy Tees Valley Hospital Middlesbrough, BMI Woodlands Darlington and Tyneside Surgical Services Newcastle. He has undertaken extensive Fellowship Training in Foot and Ankle Surgery in London and Newcastle. His practice involves all aspects of Foot and Ankle Surgery, including primary and revision ankle replacement procedures, ankle arthroscopy, small joint arthroscopy and tendinoscopy. He manages bunions, toe deformities, arthritis of foot and ankle, plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendon disorders, flat feet, cavo-varus feet and other foot and ankle deformities. He is particularly interested in managing foot and ankle sports injuries and minimally invasive surgery. He manages diabetic foot conditions and also uses circular frames where necessary in the treatment of foot and ankle disorders. In his practice, in addition to the elective work, he also deals with routine and complex foot and ankle injuries and fractures. During his training at some of the excellent trauma and orthopaedic units in the UK, he gained an in-depth knowledge of the management of various musculoskeletal injuries and diseases. This has also given him an opportunity to use the most modern equipment, state-of-the-art prostheses, and reliable techniques for trauma and elective foot and ankle surgery. He uses a full array of orthopaedic fixation materials, including plates, intramedullary nails, mono-lateral and circular fixators, artificial ligaments, and suture anchors, to treat acute fractures, non-unions, and deformities. He likes teaching and training juniors, and he has received appropriate training for this purpose. He is involved in clinical governance activities like audits and research. He enjoys the challenges his work presents and is enthusiastic about keeping his professional knowledge current. He is committed to helping patients with their health and supporting them in achieving an active, pain-free lifestyle. He ensures that his patients are kept well-informed about their conditions and the treatment options available to them. Procedures carried out by Mr Rashid include the following: • Correction of lesser toe deformities • Correction Bunion / Hallux Valgus • Correction of cavo-varus foot • Correction of flat feet • Tendon transfers • Excision of soft tissue swellings • Ankle Arthroscopy, AMIC and cartilage transplants • Achilles tendon repair/reconstruction • Total ankle replacement • Ankle Arthrodesis (both open and arthroscopic fusion) • Management of diabetic foot and ankle disorders • Reconstruction of Lisfranc injury • Correction of foot/ankle deformities with circular frame (Ilizarov and TSF)
