Dr. Andrew Tandy graduated in medicine from University College London in 1981. He is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians and a founding fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in the UK. Dr. Tandy is registered as a Specialist in Paediatric Medicine in both Australia and the UK. Before specialising in Paediatrics, he trained and registered in General Practice in the UK.
Dr. Tandy is a generalist Consultant Paediatrician with 21 years previous experience in Taunton, Somerset, UK, where he developed sub-specialty expertise in neurodevelopment, neurological disability, Down syndrome, and childhood epilepsy. He has also served as a post-graduate clinical examiner for Royal College paediatric exams in both the UK and Australia and has experience in child protection and medico-legal work for the courts.
Since 2013, Dr. Tandy has been working as a Specialist Paediatrician in Australia, focusing on rural and remote Aboriginal Child Health. His work has taken him to Aboriginal communities in Alice Springs and Central Australia NT, Broken Hill and Wilcannia NSW with Marri Ma Aboriginal Health Corporation, and Western Australia, where he has been involved in multidisciplinary assessments of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) for Patches-Paediatrics. Currently, he works with the Western Australia Country Health Service (WACHS) at the Hedland Health Campus in East Pilbara, a region with an estimated 26,400 residents, of whom 24% identify as Aboriginal.
