About

Dr Alexander Chessover is a consultant paediatric endocrinologist specialising in metabolic bone disorders. He holds positions at Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. He qualified in medicine from University College London Medical School in 2009 and completed his paediatric specialty training in the UK. He went on to complete a three-year fellowship in Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, finishing in 2020. Alongside this he is a member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH).

His clinical expertise includes calcium and phosphate disorders, rare bone conditions such as fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva, and the use of denosumab for RANKL-mediated disorders. He is also involved in the management of Duchenne muscular dystrophy and supporting adolescents transitioning from paediatric to adult healthcare services.

Dr Chessover is the departmental lead for risk management and oversees local and regional education programmes. He holds a Master’s degree in Medical Education (2017) and is actively involved in the training of future healthcare professionals.

Alongside his medical work, he took up ice skating during his endocrine fellowship, highlighting his belief in trying new things at any stage of life.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
