About Dr Alex Levit
Dr. Alex Levit is a Principal Optometrist and Partner with a profound expertise in optometry and contact lenses. Graduating from City University London in 1990, he achieved Fellowship of the College of Optometrists (FCOptom), specialising in contact lenses and children's visual problems, a distinction held by only 20 professionals at the time. His career highlights include serving as Principal Optometrist and contact lens specialist at Moorfields Eye Hospital (St. George’s Eye Department) from 1996 to 2006, alongside his role as the contact lens specialist at Central Middlesex Hospital. Dr. Levit earned his doctorate researching specialist scleral and corneal lenses for managing keratoconus and related irregular corneal disorders. He provides optometric expert medico-legal services and consults for contact lens manufacturers. Notably, Dr. Levit is the inventor of the ALK™ system, a pioneering contact lens design and fitting system for keratoconus manufactured by Ultravision CLPL, widely used in the UK and globally. Recognised for his contributions, Dr. Levit was shortlisted for the national award of Contact Lens Practitioner of the Year in 2012. He remains actively involved in the field, specialising in the treatment of corneal disorders, post-refractive surgery complications, and a wide spectrum of contact lens modalities—from soft lenses to complex hybrid and scleral lenses. Dr. Levit is a member of the International Association for Binocular Vision (IVBV) in the UK, integrating the MKH system of binocular vision correction into his practice. His clinical interests also encompass glaucoma management, anterior segment conditions, refractive surgery, retinal pathology, and cataract co-management. Committed to professional development, he attends conferences, publishes in journals, and lectures internationally, contributing significantly to the field of optometry.
"Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions."
