About

Dr. Adam Plant is a highly skilled eye surgeon with subspecialties in vitreo-retinal surgery, medical retina, and general ophthalmic surgery. He is particularly experienced in the medical and surgical management of retinal diseases, as well as standard and complex cataract surgery.
Dr. Plant graduated with distinction in a Bachelor of Medicine from the University of Newcastle and later earned a PhD from the University of Sydney, focusing his research on diabetic retinopathy. His clinical training was completed through the esteemed Sydney Eye Hospital network, after which he served as the Senior Ophthalmology Registrar at Royal North Shore Hospital.
Following his specialist training, Dr. Plant pursued advanced fellowship training in the United Kingdom, specialising in medical retina, uveitis, and vitreo-retinal surgery at both Bristol Eye Hospital and the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospitals. During this time, he was also a sub-investigator on numerous clinical studies exploring innovative treatments for retinal diseases, including retinal vein occlusion and age-related macular degeneration.
Dr. Plant’s areas of expertise encompass a wide range of retinal and vitreoretinal conditions, including retinal vein occlusion, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic macular oedema, polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy, ocular inflammation, vitreomacular traction, epiretinal membrane, macular hole, vitreous haemorrhage, retinal detachment, complex proliferative diabetic retinopathy, and complex cataract surgery.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Plant is an active contributor to international, peer-reviewed ophthalmology journals and has presented his work both nationally and abroad. He is also committed to education and has received recognition for his innovative teaching of medical students in both Australia and the UK.
