Drayton House, originally built in the 1840s, was transformed in December 1993 into Britain's first specialist eye day-case hospital by local Ophthalmologist Tayo Akingbehin. This aimed to deliver excellence in eye care within a non-hospital environment, utilising modern technology for ophthalmic treatment.
The historic Drayton House, a Grade 2 listed Victorian building, underwent sympathetic restoration to preserve its elegant features while accommodating fully equipped operating theatres, consulting and diagnostic rooms, and support services.
In 2009, the clinic expanded its reach with the addition of satellite clinics in Windermere (formerly Charles Adam Clinic), Liverpool, and Burscough, leading to a name change to iSIGHT Clinics.
