About

Susan Ventris is a therapist at Nightingale Hospital with extensive experience supporting individuals facing a wide range of psychological and emotional challenges. Her therapeutic work covers conditions such as alcohol and drug addiction, anger issues, anxiety, bereavement, depression, dual diagnosis, panic attacks, self-harm, stress, suicidal thoughts, PTSD, and work-related stress.

She takes an integrative approach to therapy, drawing on modalities including addiction treatment, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), counselling, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT), psychodynamic therapy, transactional analysis, motivational interviewing, and psychotherapy. Susan works with clients in both individual and group settings and is particularly focused on developing a safe and empathic therapeutic relationship to encourage meaningful change.

Since joining Nightingale Hospital in May 2021, Susan has been delivering one-to-one therapy and group sessions tailored to support individuals dealing with addiction and co-occurring mental health conditions. She brings a strong background in specialist addiction therapy, having worked previously with probation services to support offenders on alcohol rehabilitation orders, and with families and carers affected by the addiction of loved ones.

In addition to her clinical work, Susan has held various leadership roles, including as a Senior Team Leader for the Young Carers Team at Carers in Hertfordshire and as a Senior Practitioner for Hertfordshire County Council. Earlier in her career, she worked with leading addiction services such as WDP (Westminster Drug Project), EACH Counselling Service, and Turning Point.

Susan holds a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, a Certificate in Counselling Studies, and a Certificate in Counselling Skills. She is a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). Having qualified in 2010, she has since dedicated her career to supporting recovery from addiction, trauma, and mental health difficulties.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
