About

Mr Stuart Bell is a Specialist Orthopaedic Consultant Knee Surgeon based at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where he works full time in knee surgery. He is UK trained in orthopaedics, having completed his surgical training in Glasgow and Edinburgh, and has also undertaken internationally recognised fellowship training in knee surgery.

His advanced knee fellowship training included work at the Epworth Hospital with the OrthoSports Victoria clinic under Professor Julian Feller, as well as a UK-based knee fellowship with Professor Nick London. He also completed the Edinburgh Trauma Fellowship, further broadening his expertise in complex orthopaedic and sports-related injuries.

Mr Bell has extensive experience in both degenerative and sports-related knee conditions. His NHS practice includes regular operating lists for total and unicompartmental knee replacements for osteoarthritis, as well as arthroscopic (keyhole) knee surgery and ligament reconstruction procedures for sports injuries. He also runs weekly clinics and operating sessions at Nuffield Health Glasgow Hospital.

His clinical interests include knee replacement surgery, cartilage injuries, ligament reconstruction, and minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques. He takes a patient-focused and holistic approach to treatment, aiming to provide effective and individualised solutions tailored to each patient’s needs and lifestyle.

Alongside his clinical work, Mr Bell has an active academic and research profile. He has authored several peer-reviewed publications in leading orthopaedic journals, including randomised controlled trials on unicompartmental knee replacement and systematic reviews relating to cartilage restoration and ligament reconstruction surgery. He has also contributed a book chapter on the treatment of cartilage injuries of the knee.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
