Davor war er als geschäftsführender Oberarzt der Klinik für Anästhesie, Intensivtherapie und Schmerztherapie am UKGM Marburg tätig. Seine medizinische Ausbildung absolvierte er an der Philipps-Universität Marburg, wo er sein Staatsexamen in Humanmedizin erlangte.
