Dr Sophie Otter is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist based in Guildford at GenesisCare and Nuffield Health Guildford Hospital. Her NHS post is at the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust. She also provides outreach services to Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals specialising in urological and colorectal cancers.
Dr Otter's areas of interest are prostate, bladder, and colorectal cancers. Her treatment encompasses systemic therapy such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and hormone therapy, as well as uctting edge image-guided radiotherapy and prostate brachytherapy. She forms part of the team treating patients on the MR linac at Genesiscare providing the most technologically advanced radiotherapy that is adapted every day to ensure a high dose is delivered to the tumour whilst reducing the side effects as much as possible.
Dr Otter gained her medical qualifications from the University of Cambridge in 2004 with distinctions in Medicine, Surgery, and Pathology. She went on to train in oncology at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals and the Royal Marsden. Following this, she undertook a master's degree in oncology and cancer biology as well as an MD(Res) in which she researched image-guided radiotherapy for pelvic tumour treatment. She continues to have a research interest in the areas of radiotherapy and brachytherapy, and she has published her work in a number of journals. She has also authored several book chapters during her career and been on the Editorial Board of Cliinical Oncology.
