About
Dr Simon Ho is an experienced General Surgeon with a particular interest in hernia surgery, offering both open and minimally invasive approaches tailored to individual patient needs. He also performs upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy (gastroscopy and colonoscopy) and is a certified endoscopist with the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA).
A Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, Dr Ho completed his MBBS at Deakin University and a Bachelor of Biomedical Science at the University of Melbourne. He also undertook a Postgraduate Diploma of Surgical Science at the University of Edinburgh and a Graduate Diploma in Surgical Anatomy at the University of Melbourne.
He has broad experience, ranging from a medical elective in Kenya to working in hospitals across Victoria. He currently holds appointments at Werribee Mercy Hospital, St Vincent’s Private Hospital (Werribee and Fitzroy), and Epworth Freemasons and Richmond.
Dr Ho is actively involved in research, surgical education, mentoring, and the training of junior doctors and surgical registrars.
He is committed to continually improving his practice and regularly travels for further training. This includes time spent at the internationally renowned IRCAD Training Centre in Taiwan, the Shouldice Clinic in Toronto (world-renowned for non-mesh repair of groin hernias), as well as training within Australia alongside leading hernia specialists from Australia and abroad.
Outside of work, Simon enjoys watching his beloved Richmond Tigers, working on his tennis game, snowboarding, travelling, and perfecting his next culinary creation.
