Driven by her desire to learn advanced techniques, she undertook international visiting fellowships in various aspects of plastic surgery, including microsurgery for reconstruction, facial reanimation, ear reconstruction using rib cartilage and medpor, and aesthetic surgery. These experiences took her to centres in Japan, Taiwan, Europe, London, and the USA.
Dr. Fairbank is also dedicated to medical education and has shared her knowledge as a teacher at Melbourne University and Stanford University, helping train future medical professionals. Her fascination with anatomy continued during fellowships in Paris, where she pursued her interest in surgical dissection and teaching. She further contributed to the field as a demonstrator and examiner for the Diploma of Surgical Anatomy at the University of Melbourne in 2011.
