About Prof Prof. Dr. med. Robert Schönmayr
Prof. Dr. med. Robert Schönmayr ist ein deutscher Neurochirurg. Nach seinem Studium der Humanmedizin an der Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg und der Technischen Universität München promovierte er 1972 zum Dr. med. Seine Weiterbildung zum Neurochirurgen absolvierte er bei Hermann Hager am Neuropathologischen Institut der JLU-Gießen und anschließend bei Hans-Werner Pia in Gießen, wo er 1980 seinen Abschluss erlangte. Prof. Dr. med. Schönmayr habilitierte sich 1986 in Gießen. Bevor er 1992 zum Gründungsdirektor der Klinik für Neurochirurgie der Dr.-Horst-Schmidt-Kliniken Wiesbaden berufen wurde, war er von 1990 bis 1992 leitender Oberarzt und stellvertretender Direktor der Neurochirurgischen Klinik am Nordstadtkrankenhaus Hannover. Seit 1993 ist er apl. Professor an der Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen. Prof. Dr. med. Schönmayr ist Mitglied nationaler und internationaler Fachgesellschaften und war an der Gründung der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Schädelbasischirurgie beteiligt. Sein besonderes Interesse gilt innovativen Techniken in der Neurochirurgie.
