About Dr Dr Rishendran Naidoo
Dr. Rishendran Naidoo is a highly experienced Cardiothoracic Surgeon based in Brisbane, Australia, with a practice spanning adult cardiac and general thoracic surgery. Originally from Durban, South Africa, he graduated from the University of KwaZulu-Natal Medical School in 1997 with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree. He went on to complete specialist training in cardiothoracic surgery, earning the Fellowship of the College of Cardiothoracic Surgeons of South Africa in 2005, followed by a Master of Medicine (MMed) in Cardiothoracic Surgery in 2008.In 2006, Dr. Naidoo relocated to Australia, and he completed the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2010. He commenced work as a staff specialist at The Prince Charles Hospital, where he is currently Acting Director of Cardiothoracic Surgery. In addition, he holds a Visiting Medical Officer appointment at St Andrew’s Hospital, Spring Hill, and is part of the lung transplant programme.Dr. Naidoo's clinical interests include minimally invasive thoracic surgery, such as thoracoscopic lung resection and mediastinal surgery, the management of early and advanced lung cancer, total arterial coronary surgery, and mitral valve repair surgery. He is also passionate about education and training, serving as the supervisor of the cardiothoracic teaching programme at The Prince Charles Hospital, where he is dedicated to mentoring junior doctors and advancing surgical excellence.
