Dr. med. Renate Ostertun absolvierte ihr Medizinstudium in Aachen und München. Im Rahmen ihrer Doktorarbeit beschäftigte sie sich mit der Thermoregulation der Hände nach Kälteexposition. Neben ihrer Ausbildung im Krankenhaus Harlaching, München, in den Bereichen Innere Medizin, Chirurgie und Urologie, sowie im Krankenhaus Barmbek, Hamburg, im Bereich Orthopädie, sammelte sie Erfahrungen in einer Allgemeinpraxis in Oberbayern.
Ihre Leidenschaft für Akupunktur entdeckte Dr. med. Ostertun bereits im Jahr 1989. Nach dem Erwerb des A-Diploms der Deutschen Ärztegesellschaft für Akupunktur (DÄGfA) vertiefte sie ihre Kenntnisse der traditionellen chinesischen Medizin und Akupunktur während eines dreijährigen Aufenthalts in Singapur bei Prof. Ang Tee Tong.
Dr. med. Ostertun ist seit 1994 auch als Heilpraktikerin qualifiziert. Neben ihrer medizinischen Tätigkeit unterrichtete sie Pathologie am Raworth College Asia in Singapur. Im Jahr 1999 erhielt sie einen Lehrauftrag für traditionelle chinesische Medizin mit Schwerpunkt Akupunktur an der Universität Hamburg.
Zusätzlich zu ihren medizinischen Qualifikationen absolvierte Dr. med. Ostertun Weiterbildungen in den Bereichen Sportmedizin, Tauchmedizin und Naturheilverfahren. Sie ist außerdem NLP-Master-Practitioner, ausgebildet bei Gary Yardley, und war anschließend als Begleiterin bei Thies Stahl tätig.
