Acerca de

Mr. Rashid Abu-Rajab is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialisation in hip and knee replacement surgery, including computer-assisted and navigated knee replacement procedures. He is also experienced in knee arthroscopy, particularly in the management of cartilage tears (meniscectomy), and provides expert advice on the investigation and non-operative management of conditions such as low back pain and sciatica.

Mr. Abu-Rajab began his medical journey at Glasgow University, graduating in 1997. He underwent orthopaedic training at the Victoria Infirmary and Glasgow Royal Infirmary, complemented by a period of advanced research at Strathclyde University, where he earned a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Bioengineering. He continued his specialist training in orthopaedics throughout renowned centres in the West of Scotland and was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in 2008.

In the same year, Mr. Abu-Rajab was awarded the prestigious Zimmer Travelling Fellowship, allowing him to visit multiple leading specialist centres in North America, further honing his expertise. Since his appointment, he has served as a consultant at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley, where he introduced enhanced recovery and accelerated discharge protocols to improve patient outcomes. During his tenure, he also served as Clinical Director for five years.

Mr. Abu-Rajab has a strong passion for education and innovation. He played a pivotal role in establishing and running an annual postgraduate diploma course focused on computer-assisted knee surgery, teaching surgeons the principles, applications, and practical techniques of navigated knee replacement surgery. His contributions to medical education reflect his dedication to improving surgical practice and outcomes globally.

Beyond his clinical and educational roles, Mr. Abu-Rajab is an active contributor to orthopaedic governance and policy.
