His work aims to improve the detection and management of a range of cardiovascular conditions, including coronary artery disease, cardiomyopathy, and heart failure. He also leads sports cardiology research, with a particular focus on understanding abnormal heart rhythms in athletes.
Dr Swoboda has extensive experience in assessing and treating athletes of all levels, particularly those with existing or newly identified cardiac conditions. His clinical expertise includes the evaluation of symptoms such as chest pain, breathlessness, and palpitations, as well as the management of atrial fibrillation, hypertension, and coronary artery disease. He is internationally recognised for his research into using cardiac MRI to detect subtle cardiac abnormalities, having published over 100 papers in this field.
