Dedicated to education and research, Dr. Muirhead holds a Master’s degree in Education, has co-authored two medical textbooks, and developed innovative e-learning programmes for medical trainees. In 2015, she completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Dermatology (PGDipDerm) with distinction from Cardiff University, where she now teaches as a course tutor She is a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons, an Associate Member of the Royal College of Physicians, and affiliated with the British Association of Dermatologists. Currently, she practises as a Specialty Doctor in Dermatology Surgery, offering expert care to self-pay patients while completing her CESR accreditation. Her research interests include squamous cell carcinoma in solid organ transplant patients and novel diagnostic techniques in skin cancer detection—most notably, she published a pioneering study demonstrating that dogs can detect melanoma by scent. Beyond dermatology, Dr. Muirhead is an advocate for improved medical understanding of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME/CFS), Long Covid, and post-viral disease, drawing on her personal experience as a patient to promote more compassionate, holistic healthcare.
