Miss Eleni Maratos is a consultant neurosurgeon who specialises in skull base tumours, pituitary disease, facial pain, degenerative spine conditions, spinal tumours and brain and spinal trauma.
Miss Maratos has a strong academic background with a masters degree in pharmacology with distinction and a PhD in neuropharmacology, both from King’s College, University of London. She qualified in medicine with distinction in 2004 and was ranked first in the country on national neurosurgery training selection. She undertook specialist fellowship training in complex spine surgery at Atkinson Morley, St. George’s hospital followed by a skull base and pituitary surgery fellowship at King’s College Hospital, recognised by the Royal College of Surgeons.
She is currently a substantive consultant neurosurgeon at King’s College Hospital NHS Trust, where she is also the lead for quality improvement in neurosurgery. She also sees patients in private practice at The Harley Street Clinic, the Cleveland Clinic and the Cromwell Hospital.
Miss Maratos is actively involved in research and her work is widely published. She has several authored book chapters in academic textbooks as well as contributing to numerous publications in peer reviewed journals.
She is a leading educator in the neurosurgery field and is regularly invited to present at both a national and international level on her areas of expertise. She is regular faculty with Dendritic Training where she coaches professionals from a wide range of backgrounds on presentation skills and how to develop training courses. She teaches on national and international courses including the Stryker Neurosurgery Academy course on the skull base section and King’s College Hospital's lecture and cadaveric workshop on endoscopy in neurosurgery. She has established her own training course 'Hit the Ground Running in your fellowship' which has received feedback scores of 100% on the net promotor score.
