Mr Usman Ameer Khan

Dr Usman Ameer Khan is a consultant general, colorectal, and laparoscopic gastrointestinal surgeon and accredited endoscopist based in Manchester. He has over 37 years of medical experience, including more than 30 years of specialist experience in general surgery. Dr Khan is a highly experienced endoscopist and is one of the most experienced laparoscopic surgeons in the United Kingdom. He began performing keyhole gallbladder surgery in 1993 and keyhole hernia surgery in April 1995. He has performed thousands of hernia and gallbladder surgeries, making him a trusted choice for patients and referrals. He has a specialist interest in gastrointestinal oncology, colorectal surgery, endoscopic procedures, and laparoscopic procedures. Dr Khan received his MBBS from the University of Punjab in 1984. He trained in the North West Thames rotation and also worked at the world-famous St Mark's Hospital for Colorectal Disorders. He obtained his CCST in 1999 and was included in the GMC specialist register. Dr Khan is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (both England and the Republic of Ireland). Following his specialist training, he became the Clinical Lead for General Surgery and Colorectal Cancer at East Cheshire NHS Trust, where he founded the Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery and Enhanced Recovery After Surgery programmes. He is now Clinical Director for Planned Care Surgery and also Clinical Director for Diagnostic Services at East Cheshire NHS Trust. Dr Khan also has an interest in researching keyhole surgery and colorectal cancer and has presented his work at many conferences, both nationally and internationally. He regularly publishes in scientific journals.
