About Mr Tom Pollard
Mr Pollard is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon with nearly a decade of experience in hip and knee surgery, performing over 180 knee arthroscopies and 150 total hip replacements per year. He specialises in the treatment of knee fractures and hip trauma, and sees private patients at the Harley Street Specialist Hospital.
Mr Pollard earned his primary medical qualification at the University of Bristol, and went on to undertake his basic surgical training, during which he gained knowledge and expertise in cardiothoracic surgery and plastic surgery. Mr Pollard then continued his development by undertaking his specialist orthopaedic training on the Oxford Programme, where he achieved his medical doctorate for his thesis on hip osteoarthritis. Upon completion of his MD, he was appointed Clinical Orthopaedic and Trauma Lecturer at the University of Oxford.
After achieving his MD, Mr Pollard went on to complete his fellowship training at the Royal Berkshire NHS Trust, and developed his technique in hip arthroscopy, knee replacement and other orthopaedic skills. Upon completion, he was appointed Consultant at the trust in 2012. Since his appointment, Mr Pollard has become the Clinical Director of the Trauma and Orthopaedic department at his trust, and has also become renowned within the research community for his contributions to the field, and is a recipient of two International Society for Hip Arthroscopy Awards.
