He undertook specialist trauma and orthopaedic surgical training within the South East Thames (Guys and St Thomas') rotation in London from 2002. He gained his FRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2007.
He is fellowship trained in all aspects of spinal surgery, having completed two UK fellowships (at the Royal Berkshire in Reading and the Centre for Spinal Studies and Surgery, Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham) and one international fellowship (at Inselspital in Bern and the Swiss Olympic Medical Centre at the Schulthess Klinik in Zurich, Switzerland).
