Mr Cervellione trained as a paediatric surgeon and urologist in Europe, UK and USA.
He was appointed as a Consultant Paediatric Urologist and Surgeon at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital in 2007 where he currently works. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Human Development School of Biomedicine at University of Manchester and he is the Director for Medical Education at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital.
He is an internationally recognised expert for genital and urological paediatric and adolescent reconstruction. His main clinical interest is the Bladder Exstrophy Complex and Epispadias for which he is one of the main exstrophy surgeons in the UK. He leads the Bladder Exstrophy Unit in Manchester, one of the two commissioned centres for the treatment of this group of conditions in the UK. He also offers support to colleges abroad involved in the treatment of exstrophy and epispadias. He has developed particular interest in the treatment of hypospadias and paediatric/adolescent varicocele.
He has been published over 50 articles in major international scientific journals and presented more than 80 abstracts in the UK, Europe and the United States.
He is a regular reviewer for Journal of Paediatric Urology and Journal of Urology and he is an examiner for the FRCS Urology exam.
