Mr Kesava Mannur is a consultant Laparoscopic and Upper GI surgeon specialising in Bariatric/weightloss/metabolic surgery and anti-reflux surgery.
He graduated with an MBBS from Sri Venkateswara University India and then trained in General Surgery in Chennai, Cardiff, Lister Hospital in Stevenage, The Middlesex Hospital and The Royal London Hospitals. He also completed training in obesity surgery Europe and the USA.
Mr Mannur was appointed professor of surgery in Deccan Medical College, Hyderabad, India in 1994 and in NEw Vision University school of Medicine, Tbilisi, Georgia in 2019.
He has been performing laparoscopic surgical work since 1990 and bariatric/weightloss/metabolic surgery since 1998, giving him extensive experience in these procedures. Establishing Bariatric unit at Homerton University Hospital, London in 2003, he has made it one of the biggest well reputed bariatric centres in UK. He was director of bariatric surgery until 2017.
Working alongside a multidisciplinary team including psychologists, eating disorder specialists, dietitians and Endocrinologists, Mr Mannur has performed over 7,500 bariatric procedures to date. He performs Complex procedures including Duodenal Switch and revisional procedures converting gastric band to Sleeve Gastrectomy, gastric bypass or DS; also from Sleeve to 'banded' gastric bypass or DS. He has conducted 6 international two day Bariatric symposiums and 7 bariatric surgery training courses in Homerton University hospital.
In addition to his clinical work Mr Mannur is a prominent figure in the research community with numerous notable publications and has taught bariatric surgery both in the UK and abroad. He is invited to both national and international bariatric scientific programmes to give lectures and/or demonstrate live surgeries. He also served in BOMSS council and also as advisor for NICE.
Mr Mannur is involved in the development and running of a low-budget hospital and a Free school in Hyderabad, apart from constructing a free school in his own village on his father's name.
