About Mr James D Press
Mr James Press qualified from St. Bartholomew's Hospital, London in 1994. He worked for Professor Learmonth in Bristol before taking up his Specialist Registrar training on the Southwest rotation in Devon and Cornwall.
After his initial training, Mr. Press undertook an extra year long fellowship in complex and revision lower limb arthroplasty and computer navigation in Plymouth and was awarded his certificate of completion of specialist training in 2008.
Mr. Press worked for a further year as a consultant in Plymouth and moved to Ayrshire in April 2009 to take up his substantive post as Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon at Ayr Hospital. Ayr Hospital remains his NHS base but he also has practising privileges at two BMI hospitals - Carrick Glen, in Ayr and Ross Hall in Glasgow; running a successful private practice in addition to his NHS work.

• Arthroscopic meniscectomy (including debridement)
• Injection of therapeutic substance into CSF
• Injection into subcutaneous tissue/painful trigger point under local anaesthetic
• Injection(s) and aspiration, into joint, cyst, bursa

• Multiple arthroscopic operation on knee (including meniscectomy, chondroplasty, drilling or microfracture)
• Total prosthetic replacement of knee joint
• Primary and revision lower limb arthroplasty including complex primary arthroplasty and joint replacement for young patients utilising alternative bearing surfaces
