Mr Chandran is a Consultant Paediatric Surgeon & Urologist at the Birmingham Children's Hospital and BMI Priory Hospital. His surgical training was in New Zealand and Australia. He was selected onto prestigious Advanced Surgical Training in General surgery and Paediatric surgery and obtained FRACS (Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons).
Since coming to the UK, he was appointed Locum Consultant in RMCH Manchester, for a year in 1999 and subsequently Consultant at Birmingham Children's Hospital (BCH) in 2000. He has 30 years of surgical experience and is a nationally and internationally recognised expert in Laparoscopic surgery.
He was instrumental in setting up and advancing laparoscopic surgery at BCH and today this attracts trainees from all over the globe. He also mentors several consultants in other hospitals in the UK and in Switzerland. He has published many articles in peer-reviewed journals and authored chapters in several books.
